Twitter to YouTube
This policy covers Twitter to YouTube only (version 1.2.50 at the time of writing). Our other products have their own, because they do different things with different data.
What Twitter to YouTube sends, and to whom.
Everything below happens because you asked for it. Nothing is sent in the background, and none of it comes to us.
- Google (YouTube Data API) — the video file you chose, plus the title, description, visibility and playlist you set, each time you upload, under your own YouTube account.
- Google (sign-in) — your Google sign-in, handled by Google’s own OAuth screen, when you connect a channel, and when an access token is renewed.
- X / Twitter’s media servers — an ordinary request for the video file, the same one your browser makes to play it, when you download or upload a video from a post.
We receive none of it. Twitter to YouTube has no account with us, no analytics and no telemetry, and your settings stay in your own browser.
Chrome shows you a list of permissions when you install anything. Here is what Twitter to YouTube asks for and why, in the same words the manifest uses.
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
storage | Save your settings and preferences in the browser, on your own machine. |
identity | Sign you in to Google, so it can upload on your behalf. |
downloads | Save files to your Downloads folder. |
tabs | See the address and title of your open tabs, so the extension knows which page you mean. |

Uninstalling the extension removes its stored settings with it. You do not need to contact us first, and there is no account left behind.
If you would like something explained or corrected, email [email protected]. If you think this page is wrong about what the product does, say so plainly and we will fix the page or the product.
If a future version of Twitter to YouTube starts collecting or sending something it does not today, this page changes before that version ships, and the change is described here rather than quietly folded in.
Sitewide terms are covered by our terms of use, and the website's own privacy notice is at /privacy.html.
